Tunnock’s ‘Sweet’ Transforms Glasgow Hotel Room

Grafika Signs has transformed Room 101 in Glasgow’s easyHotel into the “Tunnock’s Sweet”, celebrating the iconic Scottish confectionery brand. Designed to generate social media engagement, the installation combined environmental graphics with practical hospitality considerations to create a visually distinctive branded space.

Challenge
The project required a standard hotel room to be completely reimagined without structural alteration. Existing surfaces, fixtures and operational features all had to remain functional while becoming part of the finished design. Survey accuracy was critical, particularly around wall joins, ceiling applications and existing timber elements. The installation also needed to withstand fluctuating room temperatures and modern painted surfaces, both of which can create adhesion challenges for large-format interior graphics.

Solution
Working from supplied artwork, the Grafika Signs team surveyed the room, produced the graphics and completed the full fit-out. Existing timber features, including coat hook and scarf display sections, were wrapped using printed matte laminate cut precisely around fittings. Metamark MD-WA WallArt was applied directly to the ceiling to create large cloud graphics, with material selection influenced by the higher tack needed around air conditioning areas. Installation planning extended to aligning graphic joins with sprinkler positions to improve finish quality and simplify application.

Result
The completed Tunnock’s Sweet has attracted significant attention online, with guests and visitors widely sharing images across social media. The installation also reportedly gained television and press exposure, extending visibility beyond the hotel itself. Combining strong visual impact with careful technical execution, the project demonstrates how environmental graphics can help hospitality venues create memorable branded experiences designed specifically for modern social-media-driven marketing.
