Diving In At The Deep End, With Metamark

There's not a lot of time, but there's a lot at stake. Steele Signs gets the job done for its hotel client...

The last thing a busy hotel needs when its trying to take care of its customers is a problem with its own facilities. The Richmond Hill Hotel though wasn't spared the disruption when it discovered issues with the installed walling structure attending its leisure facilities, or, more specifically, its pool.

Remedial measures were required and a plan was put together by the hotel's management. Among the suggested improvements, a mural, subject matter to reflect the pool's use, something nice and large and impactful. The practicalities were discussed in detail with Salisbury based Steele Signs - Gwaredd Steele and his team outlined the options available and all present agreed the idea was a good one and that Steele Signs had the credentials needed to do the job.

Time passed.

One day, out of the blue, a Monday it's recalled, the order to deliver the works arrived at Steele Signs together with a chilling footnote. 'The facility opens this Thursday' “you can do it on time, can't you?

Though it casts itself in the role of a signmaking company, and is well known as such in the area and beyond, Steele Signs is no stranger to pulling off the occasional minor miracle and so responded with confidence and agreed to do the job. Surface preparation would be important to the job and quality is critical to Steele Sign so, suitably armed, the team set to improving the recently installed structure, de-nibbing the surface so as to ensure the applied graphics had a sound foundation to call home.

Gwaredd turned to Metamark MD5 and its matching laminate to produce the mural. Well known for its prodigious appetite for digital ink and its ability to resolve high levels of detail, the MD5 gave of its best in terms of the impact lent to the mural's design. It's tough enough to take a bit of a bashing in high traffic areas without complaining too.

Once printed, installation could proceed. The preparation paid off and, despite 3 Metre plus drops, everything adhered, aligned and amazed. The result is a stunner by any standard set. It speaks for Steele Signs' abilities and willingness to engage but also makes a broader point. Anywhere there's a wall, it can play a much wider role than simply holding up the roof.
