Clean And Green, With Metamark

The workforces who maintain and build much of our road infrastructure can often be sited, and sighted, miles from anywhere. Thanks to recent innovations, their needs, and the environment's are being met...

Milton Keynes based Bobcat Digital is a modern, well equipped digital printer and signs and graphics producer that can handle more or less any job that comes to its door. Getting things done though, and getting known for it, means that you never quite what's going to rock up next as the company's influence and clientele grows.

Among the more unusual jobs to come the way of the Bobcat team recently involved the branding of a rather special trailer. The trailer in question, like many of its breed generally, was dedicated to the welfare of the mobile workforces who keep the roads in good repair and the country's wheels turning. This one though had a different story to tell.

Part of the entourage that accompanies works on the roads is a place where the workforce doing the job can take care of its own needs and make sure it's fed and watered. For as long as anyone can remember the so-called 'welfare trailer' has contributed its own impact on the environment surrounding it, in addition to those of the 'works, because it needs and consumes power and that power has to be locally generated.

Not so with the Ecosmart Zero. This mobile wonder on wheels handles its own power needs in a novel and patented way. It's a hybrid.

It's easy to turn the page on the word 'hybrid' in the context of power because it conjures up pictures of a small engine charging batteries. Think again. The Zero uses a combination of a hydrogen fuel cell and solar cells to provide the power needed. Unlike a perpetually throbbing diesel generator, the power behind the Zero only produces electricity. There are no local emissions. Nothing. Nada. 'Zero.' It fell to Bobcat Digital to get the message out.

To make sure the Ecosmart Zero gets noticed for what it is, Bobcat Digital made something of an event of getting the word 'Zero' out there. Using printed Metamark MD5 the Bobcat team came up with an array of applied Zero decals that, even from a distance, make it clear that this isn't your usual roadside trailer. Emblazoned as it is with Bobcat's potent branding, the trailer now sticks out, but not like the proverbial sore thumb. Thanks to Bobcat, the Zero now flags to the world a message that speaks loudly and very positively about environmental stewardship.

With a team that can claim over forty years experience in the production of signs and graphics, Bobcat Digital can probably claim itself a first in branding a Zero Emissions welfare unit. With an agenda globally that's looking closely at environmental matters, it's not likely to be the last. If there's a message to get out, Bobcat Digital has demonstrated that potent applied livery will do the job that's needed. It's going to be noticed and for all sorts of reasons.
