Catch Of The Day - Lasting Impression

If you're merchanting fish and want your vehicle to look a bit more distinctive than the industry's standard, a trip to Vertiworks will get you sorted...

Dorset's a wonderful county, not least because one of its borders is a spectacular coast. If you happen to be looking for signs and you have a business in the area, it's very likely that you'll meeting Colin Crabb and his crew who comprise Bridport based Vertiworks. The company casts itself in the role of a signmaker, and indeed it is. Mention should be made though of the deep and capable creative reserves to be found under Vertiworks' roof too.

A company of fishermen who sell their catch to the public called upon Vertiworks' troops recently to get one of its vans properly signed and earning its keep. Vans serving the needs of the fishing industry seem to have a bit of a theme in common. They're either very industrial and matter-of-fact about the trade they conduct, or they lunge for the breed's polar opposite and depict all sorts of aquatic species in sugary-looking cartoon form. The client wanted neither and so it was 'thinking caps on' time.

Inspiration is never far away when you see the world and all it contains through a creatives' end of the telescope and so it was on this occasion. A very old picture, albeit obscured with bits of sundry text, sat there on the client's wall just begging to be involved somehow. Colin took it away, scanned and decluttered it and set to work making it part of a livery design.

The picture is of a young woman who's sat on an upturned basket on a beach at low-water. In her right hand is a plate of something appealing and dangling from the other a very fresh looking flat fish later to be dinner. Somehow it evokes nosecone art seen on WWII bombers and fighters or other works of the era. One thing's for sure, it's in a school of its own when it comes to Fishermans' vans. Vertiworks turned the work into a very elegant looking livery that promotes 'Catch Of The Day' and its trade brilliantly. And not a Peter Pollock or industrial graphic in sight.

Covering, as it does, a challenging application surface, Vertiworks used MetaWrap MD-X for the job, laminated of course in MetaGuard MG-X, the film's matching laminate. Leave it to Vertiworks to capture the colouration brilliantly and get the whole plot applied and looking sensational.

Catch Of The Day now has a very attractive rolling billboard that promotes its business and Vertiworks can claim another very happy client.
