A little inventive application work helps Links Signs and Graphics deliver a dramatic vehicle livery to a local client…

SAS is a self-storage company based in Blackpool, not far from where Links Signs and Graphics operates its business. SAS approached Links Signs wanting a vehicle livery for its new wheels and having a pretty definite view of what it should look like, too.

The customer, in this case, got to sit down with one of the Links design team and deliver his brief in detail, and in person. The vehicle was considered, so was the customer’s colour-ways in his dramatic ID. Links’ designer proposed a design and the customer loved it - price agreed, job on.

When the vehicle rocked up to Links Signs and Graphics Premises, it looked far more muscular than the one the Links design team had used as a basis for its work. No wonder. It was fitted with a body-kit complete with bulging arches and cill work. This presented a bit of a challenge.

Links Signs had proposed delivering the livery as an assembly of cut components made from colours chosen from the newly expanded Metamark 7 Series range. One look at the physical depth of the vehicle’s add-on body parts gave the team pause for though in applying its proposed construction. In the seconds that passed though, and in typical Links Signs and Graphics fashion, a solution was conceived and it wouldn’t involve returning to the customer’s budget.

The Links Signs and Graphics team very cleverly avoided the problem areas of the vehicle by using Knifeless tape to cut a little detailing of their own with the vinyl actually on the vehicle. The result is a very attractive additional accent around the arches and no outrageous stresses on the applied material.

It’s a cut and applied livery that looks anything but. Dramatic contrasts. Wrap-like impact. A real winner no matter what side you’re looking at. Just goes to show what’s possible when a little inventive application meets a material that’s up for practically anything. Oh, the customer loves it.
