Andrew Varley and the crew at Cougar Signs in Leeds have been wrapping vehicles for long enough to know a trick or two. Cougar Signs’ work is recognised for its creative impact, the quality of its production and the technical standards behind its application. The company is a very popular destination for anyone looking for vehicle livery whether on a one-off basis, just a few vehicles, or a whole fleet.

On the basis that vehicles are something of a perishable resource, much of Cougar Signs’ work is supplied to customers returning for more. New customers coming to Cougar Signs often do so with the benefit of understanding the company and its capabilities and knowing, to an extent at least, what it is they want. One such customer, an enterprise involved in practically everything to do with commercial use of concrete, came to Cougar with a muscular looking truck and a few ideas.

Needing to promote rockresource dot com, the client had prescribe design in terms of a bluff looking mountain range in monotones to contrast with ID elements in colour. That turns out to be a really good turn of events. The steely metallic body colour of the vehicle paint would provide a minimal contrast with the print but sufficient to present it well. It would also make the body colour inclusive of the design and make what’s a partial wrap look like a full coverage production.

The team at Cougar Signs printed the prepared and edited graphics on MetaWrap MD-X whitch was then laminated with MetaGuard MG-X, the product’s mechanically matched partner. With its MD-Class digital print credentials, the wrapping film did an excellent job of presenting the subtle range of almost colourless gradations. No banding is evident and so the results is almost photo-like in terms of its fidelity with the design.

Application to the vehicle is not the challenge that Cougar Signs routinely meeting but it is nonetheless perfect. The point where vinyl meets naked paint provides a design inclusive contrast simply not possible with ink alone. It’s a very creative piece of work.

Concrete isn’t always a colourful product but Cougar Signs great looking wrap does a simply marvellous job of promoting it within its client’s interests. The work simply radiates quality and, being an MD-X work, applied like Cougar Signs knows how, it’s going to look its brilliant best for years to come.
