One of Bridgend-based Elite Signs and Graphics’ customers was so impressed with the results of his personal van conversion, he’s gone into business selling them…

 

Venture out anywhere these days and it won’t have escaped your notice that vans are doing much more than just schlepping parcels and goods from one drop to the next. Vans have become tiny houses on wheels. Outwardly a van. Inwardly a reflection of their owners’ imaginations and needs - comfortable, versatile and very much the family transport.

 

As platforms for conversions go, the Citroen Relay comes unmodified with much the same potential as the legions of other big boxes on wheels that are available. Punctuate the exterior with a few strategically situated windows though, and insulate the interior, and the cavernous space inside just begs further transformation.

 

One such vehicle paid Elite Signs and Graphics a visit recently.

 

The big Citroen’s owner had transformed the tough load-lugger into a very comfortable living space and generally beefed it up into a go-anywhere home-from-home with all the trappings expected. The interior was brilliant, outwardly though could still suffer some improvement.

 

Elite Signs and Graphics is a destination best known for the livery work it delivers to owners of commercial fleets large and small. Pioneers in terms of design, and among the country’s most technically accomplished livery specialists, Elite welcomes non-commercial interest too and is no less capable delivering.

 

The big Citroen was an exercise in breaking up huge expanses of white panel work and doing so inside the confines of a brief that didn’t want anything too outrageous or printed pictorial content. Elite Signs and Graphics’ team did the job.

 

What’s resulted is a very practical livery that softens the bluff lines of the big Citroen and confers on it a more pointed and angular quality that’s just not there at all in the physical panel work. One of its component parts is colour-keyed to the interior features.

 

The whole livery comprises cut-and-applied geometry. The bulk of the detail is Matt Black MM-CC Metamark’s colour change wrap film. Overlaying the MM-CC is a series of detail points rendered in cut, Metamark M7 White a stark contrast with the black. The colour-coordinated stripe dips into the MM-CC swatch again and lands on a beautiful teal.

 

The customer is delighted with the results of Elite Signs and Graphics’ work and is pretty pleased with his own too. He’s so pleased, he’ll be producing more Citroen Relay conversions and offering them for sale. They’ll all feature the livery seen here and the interiors will dictate the colour of the accent stripe.
