Moto Historics specialises in race preparation and restoration of original racing cars and has its fingerprints on everything from GT40s all the way up to 90s Formula 1 cars. Over the years, Moto Historics can claim successes at all the major historic motorsport events and podium finishes at Classic Le Mans, Goodwood Revival and Spa’s 6 Hour. 

The passing of time doesn’t seem to diminish the appeal that classic racing cars embody or dilute the feel-good and excitement that follows the entourage where they compete. Time though, and the typical battle-rash that historic cars pick up, does take its toll on vehicle finishes, graphics and bodywork. Horley based KM Vinyl Graphics has been engaged on numerous occasions over the years to provision graphics for Moto Historics’ cars to keep them looking as good as the day they first turned wheels - and heads.

Among the recent work that KM Vinyl Graphics has delivered to Moto Historics is a selection of what might well be called ‘ambient touches.’ These branded racing peripherals serve the case of supporting team events’ authenticity but will instantly appeal to anyone one with Castrol in their blood and a man-cave with a bit of space to fill!

The objects of instant desire include oil drums wrapped in period graphics that resonate with great teams and cars of the past, retired airline trolleys that get a makeover and instantly become pit-side tool chests, and more beside. Every object adds that bit of authentic sparkle that helps make a classics event the spectacle it is.

Keith Miller and the team at KM Vinyl Graphics turned to Metamark MD5-A and Metamark M7 materials to help create the prop collection. The logos and other design assets used were readily to hand having been used for vehicles graphics already. Graphics are a mix of printed and cut-and-applied livery continuations and they’re absolutely consistent with the cars.

It’s unlikely that any car earning a position in a roster of classics will ever lose its status or appeal, and for as long as there are teams committed to keeping wheels turning, we’ll be able to enjoy reliving the brilliance that makes classic motorsport such a huge draw.
