West Cumbria based signs and graphics producer, AS Design’s team, turned around a total transformation in only twelve days with M4 among others in support…

 

AS Design is based in West Cumbria and so has some of the best countryside the UK offers right on its doorstep. Tempting though it might be to walk off into the hills, the team at AS Design has its priorities right and the work gets done - even when that involves the total transformation of a former car showroom in only twelve days.

 

The client, Extreme Fitness, was opening a new site in Workington, not far from AS Design’s door. The AS team had worked for Extreme Fitness before but on this occasion was faced with quite a challenge - turn an anonymous looking and now vacant car showroom, including its standing signage, into something promoting itself as a gym with only twelve days to get the job turned round.

 

The job would turn out to exercise practically every skill in the sign and graphics producers’ repertoire. Routing was involved, printing and application, fabricating lit trays and even a bit of cladding wrapping. The AS Design team is nothing if not resourceful though and so the job was accepted, design agreed and the serious work began.

 

The former showroom’s composite frontage was treated to a wrap of Metamark 4 Series  in matt and gloss with a folded composite tray featuring centrally. The fascia signing is anchored in design term by a large branding roundel with elements cut on AS Design’s Olympus CNC router and wrapped in matching Metamark materials. 

 

The lettering elements are cut acrylic and these have been wrapped in printed Metamark MD-T. The MD-Class translucent material is expressly formulated to be print receptive and looks good whether in daylight condition or when back-lit. 27/7 impact is what’s expected of illuminated signage and it delivers.

 

The premises are approached over a road dominated by a very large pylon or monolith sign. AS Design retrofitted fabricated elements to the monolith effectively transforming it and giving the structure a second life. It now makes a very powerful branding statement for the new premises and radiates its brand far and wide. Metamark MD Materials figure in the transformation and the production and fabrication were all done in-house by the AS Design team, as was installation at height.

 

Fascia illumination utilises IP rated LED Luminaires again designed and installed by the AS Design Team. Great design is rooted in powerful contrasts and again, day or night they are there to be found. Metamark’s 4 Series cladding the tray really sees the Extreme Fitness brand pumping out. Hard to miss.

 

It’s worth repeated that, from the point AS Design’s customer made contact to the time the installation was admired and handed over took just twelve days. AS Design’s client has a powerfully branded business where just days before a sorry looking empty car showroom stood. 

 

It’s worth noting too that the size of the job in hand required resources and skills beyond sign fabrication and printing. It’s a project of some stature and a credit to the team that pulled it off without incident. The customer is delighted.
