Another livery from D-Sign Studio that has a story to tell…

‘Do something you really enjoy for a living,’ says the popular piece of homespun philosophy, ‘and you’ll never work another day in your life.’ For those of us who can take that advice and make a living doing what we love, it must hold true. A great example finds itself wrapped up in recent work that ‘Nanny McFur’ brought to the door of D-Sign Studio in Milford Haven where Jonathan Dudley and his team make notable signs and graphics in the region and beyond.

The owner of ‘Nanny McFur’ was living the dream having built a successful enterprise looking after dogs in the locality with walking, kennelling and grooming services among the offering. Then came premises to help house the growing entourage of customers and their precious charges. Next came the van so that Nanny McFur could get out and about collecting, delivering, and finding great walking spots. Taking the view that the business could advertise itself on the new vehicle, the owner engaged D-Sign Studio.

“Most customers come with a few ideas,” said Jonathan, “this one came with lots that helped shape the livery’s design.” He has a point. Vehicles concerned with a service in orbit around pets will usually be centred on a characterisation of a dog, cat or whatever. Nanny McFur has ventured down a path that, in the experience of this writer at least, has a case for arguing it’s unique.

The design celebrates ‘Nanny McFur’ in nice, big legible type on the prime pieces of the vehicle. Elsewhere in the layout, and comprising most of its key elements, are dogs at the ends of their leads, forming an ensemble that suggests Nanny is no stranger to managing lots of four-legged charges at the same time. The design looks great, and here’s the neat part.

Rather than seek out stock art of ‘dogs of the world’ or whatever, every picture on Nanny’s vehicle is in fact a client - or rather a pet belonging to a client. Each gets a minor starring role in the overall design, and it really raises a smile to think that every element of the vehicle livery is a real pet, and that Nanny McFur look after it in a style to which it’s happy to become accustomed. 

We were delighted to find out about D-Sign Studio’s latest livery with a story to tell and to learn that Jonathan at the team had reached for the Metamark MD5 to do the job. Jonathan and MD5 are well known to each other, and it shows in the quality of the print he routinely achieves. Nanny McFur is no exception. The MD-Class detail is there, and the pet-portraiture reflects it in every picture. 

Asked whether he was doing a job he loved, Jonathan wasn’t drawn beyond saying, “It has its moments.” We infer from that he’s more than happy to continue. D-Sign Studio is, after all, one of the most experienced and respected signs and graphics businesses in the region.
